It all began in New Zealand where the company founder, Richard McMillan, started a four year engineering apprenticeship with Steelbro New Zealand. After completing this he moved to Australia to further his knowledge in sidelifters by operating a mobile repair service from a van for Service Works Australia.

When the call came from the United Kingdom to come and carry out a similar job for Container Lift Services he jumped at the chance. After seven years of service to them the time came to go it alone. With a small start-up fund he bought a van and the necessary tools to offer maintenance services to all sidelifter owners and operators in the United Kingdom.
After seven years McMillans is now the only specialised company to offer service and back up for sidelifters in the United Kingdom. With mobile and workshop facilities and manufacturer trained staff we believe our services are second to none.
